TEHRAN – Iran’s security forces have killed four members of the Komoleh terrorist group in an ambush in Western Azerbaijan Province.
The four terrorists had killed 3 police forces on December 31 on Mahabad-Miandoab road in northwestern Iran, the Intelligence Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
Security forces tracked the four terrorists in a region near the town of Sardasht and killed them in armed clashes, the statement added.
The statement added that several Kalashnikov rifles and grenades were also seized in the operation.
Komoleh is a name for PJAK, (the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan). The terrorist group has been behind a string of terror attacks in northwestern Iran.
PJAK, which was branded as a terrorist organization by the United States in February last year, claimed responsibility for the killing of a local prosecutor in Khoy city in West Azerbaijan province on January 18.
